That's super interesting. I've been following the situation in the Middle East very closely for the last couple of weeks, though, and those protests really don't have much to do with food, directly. They are all about the people demanding political and economic reform. Calling them food riots is like saying the American revolution was nothing but a tea riot that got out of hand.
Yes, part of being poor is being hungry, but of all the videos and pictures I've seen from Tunisia, Egypt, and Libya, no one has ever mentioned food prices as their motivation. These people want FREEDOM.
