We just joined the ward choir

Today was the first time our ward has had choir practice since Wayne came back to the ward.  He LOVES  to sing in the choir, so I decided to join with him.  And surprise, surprise, Zac decided to attend also.

Wayne was the choir president for many years in the Cary First ward.  When he became a high councilor he had to quit because he was always gone from the ward, and of course he couldn't do it while he was in the bishopric.

I, on the other hand, never sing in the choir.  It just isn't my thing.  But I am doing it now to be with Wayne.  I am a very very average singer.

We got to the rehearsal this morning, and practiced "I am a Child of God" acapella.  We were all very familiar with the song, but our choir director changed some things and also had us go up a half step in the middle of the third verse, which was a bit tricky for me.

With only one rehearsal, we sang the song for  our ward conference.  Pres. Maxwell stood up afterward, and said "You have an exceptional ward choir.  It takes great talent to be able to sing acapella and stay in tune."

I laughed to myself and knew it wasn't me, it was the awesome singers who were surrounding me.  I'm just glad I didn't ruin it for the rest of the people.

CHANGE OF TOPIC

I just heard from Glinda M., (who has two sons on a mission), that our stake has to add another missionary photo display case to the wall of the stake center.  The two missionary display boards are completely full.  I think that is great.

ALSO

Today is the anniversary of my parent's marriage. They were married in 1952.  So this would be their 59th anniversary.  Except for the fact that they were divorced in 1978.

A funny story:  On their 50th "anniversary" my mom got a wild idea and mailed him a 50th anniversary card.  I don't think he took it too well.
