My good friend Lyric Kinard has written a quilting book, and it is coming out in October. She and I used to go to the MidAtlantic Quilt Festival together every year, and we would dream about someday becoming big time national quilting teachers. Then we both reached our goals of being professionals in our field, but now I'm pretty much on sabbatical and she is still racing full speed ahead. She is really talented and has such drive and ambition, I am very proud to know her.
